Snow Emergency Declared for Tuesday, January 27, 2026

The Village of Green Island is declaring a snow removal, which means a full curb-to-curb snow removal operation will begin tomorrow (Tuesday, January 27th) at 8:00AM. Tuesday garbage pickup will be moved to Thursday and there will be no bulk pickup this week.

All vehicles must be removed from village streets to allow DPW crews to clear snow.

Starting this evening Village personnel will travel the streets to announce that the operation will begin tomorrow at 8:00AM. Alerts will be sent today and tomorrow morning.

All cars must be removed from the street.

Residents and visitors that do NOT move their vehicle will get a ticket and the vehicle will be towed. The tickets is $125 & the tow is $125. There is an additional $10 per day storage fee after the first 24hrs. All vehicles will be towed to the DPW Garage at 50 Cohoes Avenue. Tickets must be paid in advance online or at the Village Office.

If you miss the announcements, alerts and/or social media posts it is not an excuse for not moving your vehicle.

The street order for plowing is being provided on the Public Works page but is subject to change. There is also a link to pay your fine/tow.

Check with someone working the operation before you park on a street that you think has been plowed. We do not want to ticket and tow, we want you to move your car!
