Memorial Day Parade

The annual Memorial Day Parade, which this year coincides with the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War, will be held on WEDNESDAY, May 24th at 6:00 p.m. Lineup is at 5:30 p.m. starting on Hudson Avenue at George Street. Please note that Hudson Avenue will be closed to traffic in that area during lineup. All residents are encouraged to attend the parade and the brief ceremony and reception at the Legnard Curtin Post that follows. This year’s Grand Marshal is Vietnam Veteran and American Legion Commander Anthony Lazzaro. Please attend and honor Anthony, our veterans and those that made the supreme sacrifice so that we can live with freedom today.

The Green Island Power Authority puts a lot of effort into assembling the Veteran’s float for the parade. To show our appreciation, we would like to fill the float with those who served or are serving our military service. Please contact parade organizer Maggie Alix at 273-2201  if you would like to ride on the float this year.
