The Village of Green Island and the Albany County Sheriff’s Office will be co-sponsoring a Heroin Awareness Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Heatly School, 171 Hudson Avenue, Green Island, New York 12183. The meeting will be led by Green Island Mayor Ellen McNulty-Ryan and Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple and will feature speakers from Catholic Charities, Addictions Care Center of Albany, Inc., Albany Medical Center Hospital and New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS). Amongst the topics will be the status of the heroin epidemic, where overdoses are occurring, preventive tips, how addiction starts and where to get help. All attendees will have an opportunity to receive lifesaving NARCAN training while there. Please make every attempt to attend this meeting and learn valuable information about what is now a public health epidemic.
