Village of Green Island officials and project engineers from Barton & Loguidice presented the final design of the new Black Bridge Trail Project to the community for the first time on Monday, July 17th at 6:45 pm (after the Village Board meeting).
This project has been several years in the making and the final product incorporates several ideas that were derived from a public meeting that was held in September of 2016 and during a public comment period held during the same timeframe. Amenities include two overlook areas with views of the Mohawk and Hudson Rivers, two seating areas with benches, trash and pet waste receptacles and a small parking area adjacent to the trail. A good group of residents and stakeholders attended Monday’s presentation which included a question and answer period afterward.
Contractor bids for the project will be opened on August 1st with the authorization of bid award expected to be acted on at a Special Village Board Meeting to be held on August 7th at 5:00 pm. Construction should be completed in Fall 2017.
