“Runnin’ of the Green” Will Cause Traffic Delays in Green Island

The “Runnin’ of the Green” 4 mile championship road race will draw approximately 750 runners and with it traffic detours and delays to the entire Village of Green Island on Saturday morning, March 16th. The race will start and finish at the… Legnard Curtin American Legion Post at 35 Cohoes Avenue.

Cohoes Avenue between Bleecker and Tibbits Avenues will be closed from 8:00 am to 12 noon. Expect heavy traffic delays, detours and closings for long periods of time during the hours of 9:00 am to 12 noon. Most of the Village will be subject to short delays while runners pass through, but the 1/4 mile area near the intersections of Cohoes and Tibbits Avenue will see long delays and closures during this time. We are advising that all vehicle traffic avoid this area during this time and use the south end of the Village to enter and exit. Those using I-787 are advised to avoid the Tibbits Avenue and Dyke Avenue intersections and instead use the 23rd Street exit/entrance ramps in the south end of town.

Please contact Sean Ward at the Village Office (273-2201) or the Green Island Police Department at 273-2401 if you have any questions.
